H.E. Garchen Rinpoche's Explanation on the Rainbows during the Phurba Drubchen at GBI on 11/14/2018

　

本尊隨時存在，其法身隨時遍佈虛空。當有情眾生以極大的慈心與信念祈請本尊，本尊的報身以各種方式顯現，如空中的彩虹或雲朵。而本尊的化身於有情眾生的心續中展現為慈心、悲心與喜樂。

　

外在標誌為空中的彩虹。內在標誌包括祥和、安樂、信念與悲心。對行者而言，秘密標誌是見地的確定，即心的本性。我們的佛塔與寺廟充滿佛陀的舍利，是個非常特別的地方。這些是外在的緣，內在的緣是弟子的信念，秘密的緣是一切有情眾生自然覺醒的佛性。

　

目前我們的佛性如冰塊般已經凍結。當慈心與悲心生起，冰塊將融化，我執將消失。因此外在、內在與秘密的標誌同時顯現。有時壇城——本尊的無量宮殿顯現，其他的各種標誌也會顯現。

　

The deities are always here, their dharmakāya nature always pervading space. When sentient beings supplicate them with great love and faith, their sambhogakāya manifests like a rainbow, in various ways such as rainbows or clouds in the sky. Their nirmānakāya then arises as feelings of love, compassion and joy in the mind-streams of sentient beings. 

　

Outer signs could be rainbows in the sky. Inner signs include feelings of peace, happiness, faith, and compassion. Secret signs to a practitioner is certainty in the view, the nature of mind. Our stupas and temple are filled with Buddha relics; this is a very special place. These are the outer conditions, the inner condition is the disciples’ faith, and the secret condition is the buddha-nature of all sentient beings that is awakened naturally. 

　

Now, our buddha-nature has become frozen like a block of ice. When love and compassion arise, the ice is melting and self-grasping diminishes. Thus, the outer, inner and secret signs appear simultaneously. Sometimes the mandala, the boundless palace of the deities, appears, and various other signs appear.
