Happy 85th Birthday to our most beloved Garchen Rinpoche
～謹致我們最摯愛的噶千仁波切：八五壽誕吉祥如意～
Lama Khyenno! Guru, you know me!
喇嘛千諾！上師，您鑒知吾！
Never had we imagined how to bear the days away from you,
Now that it's been almost two years since 2019,
With your great love that encompasses every sentient being,
Finally we realized that we are even closer than ever before.
不曾想像，與您分隔兩地的日子該怎麼過，
時至今日，也就這樣經歷了近兩年的時光，
因著您的大愛，溫暖懷攝著每位有情眾生，
我們這才領悟，原來我們比以往更加親近。
As ignorant beings, we perpetually search for tangible things,
Trying to reach for your care and look for your attention,
Requesting you to come to “our” centers, “our” countries,
Yet you benefit far more beings when you are at your own place.
無明我等，從不停歇地追逐您的有形色身，
想方設法，就是想得到您更多的關注關愛，
也總央求，請來我們的中心或我們的國家，
您在自身道場，卻能利益更為廣大的有情。
It's not merely because of the technology of online streaming,
But mainly because of the precious Bodhicitta that you've generated,
Which draws us together in the sublime mandala of your teachings,
No matter how early or late in the day of the whole world.
凡此種種，不僅歸功於網路直播的技術，
究其主因，乃是您內心的珍貴菩提心寶，
令人神往，相會於您殊妙的法教壇城中，
無論當天，在世界各地是何時日昇月落。
Your shining smile is the food for our practice of generosity.
Your magnificent gesture is the goal for our practice of discipline.
Your outreaching hands are the example for our practice of patience.
Your profound words are the nectar for our practice of transcendent knowledge.
您燦爛的笑顏，是我們修持佈施的養分，
您莊嚴的身姿，是我們行持律儀的標竿，
您有力的雙手，是我們修持安忍的典範，
您深妙的言辭，是我們修持般若的甘露。
Blowing air to photos of the devotees one by one,
Collecting hair of those taken refuge to you piece by piece,
You bestow blessings on whomever needs help, dead or alive,
Day or night, weekdays or weekends, and you never rest.
一張一張地，您吹拂著信眾們的照片，
一根一根地，您收藏起皈依者的髮絲，
不論生或死，您加持著任何有需求者，
不論晝與夜，您為眾生總是未曾休息。
Answering all questions without omission,
Granting instructions as completely as possible,
Constantly performing prayers and Pujas,
You continue to fulfill every wish from every corner of the world.
釋疑解惑，您一直無有疏漏，
賜予教言，您總是極盡圓滿，
祈願修法，您向來不作停歇，
所作所為，皆為了圓滿信眾的盼望。
Conducting Dharma activities tirelessly as usual,
Physical distance is never a problem for you,
With deep compassion pervading the space,
Not a single student is left alone.
一如既往，您行持佛法事業而孜孜不倦，
時間空間，距離於您而言根本不成問題，
深切悲心，遍佈著無盡虛空，
無餘眷顧，從不捨任一佛子。
You even put a toy cat for bees as a scarecrow,
You even set a small pond for wild animals around,
That's why we see birds chirping in your eyes,
That's why we feel squirrels sporting in your heart.
為了保護蜜蜂，您以玩具貓當稻草人，
為了體貼動物，您建造一池清涼水塘，
在您眼中，我們看到有鳥兒在啾啾鳴唱，
在您心中，我們感到有松鼠在嬉戲竄動。
Wondering what you'd be thinking when you look at the screen,
That carries our longing and missing to you through the internet;
Considering us to be the bee that was held by you,
When it was almost frozen to death that you blew air to.
多想知道，螢幕那一端的您在想些什麼，
透過網路，能否傳達我們的渴求與思念，
想像自己，是您手中救起的那隻蜜蜂，
垂死掙扎，卻因您慈愛的暖風而重生。
Knowing that it's all our mundane concepts working,
Knowing that it's all our sense of insecurity playing,
Actually we're never apart, as you often emphasize:
“Whenever you meditate, our minds are one.”
深深知曉，這一切不過是世俗概念的戲碼，
深深知曉，這一切不過是不安全感的作祟，
一如您在在叮囑，究竟上我們從未曾分離，
「當你禪修之時，也是我們的心合一之時」。
So we're calling our beloved guru, you, not from afar,
But from within, in the one and only mandala of Bodhicitta,
Beseeching you to turn the wheel of Dharma for always,
Entreating you to live long and healthy for the benefit of all beings.
呼喚摯愛上師，只是這次已不再遙呼，
而是出於內在，那菩提心的唯一壇城，
祈請您，恆常轉動殊勝之法輪，
懇求您，為利有情長壽且安康。
As for us disciples, the fortunate followers of Buddha,
We promise to do our best to be a better person each day,
Enhancing our practice with persistence and diligence,
So that we may meet again in the Pure Land of Amitabha.
身為弟子，我等具福報之佛陀追隨者，
謹此承諾，每一天都盡心讓自己更好，
精進不懈，樂於增長個人的修持行儀，
藉此勝願，必將與您重逢於彌陀淨土。
